Cold Dead Hearted

My mother tightly coiled, always walking the fine line between despair and tension, began to unravel just before the holidays. She began locking herself for long periods of time in the bathroom and I would stand in the hallway watching my sister push pictures beneath the slit of the door trying to cheer her up. [...]
The house was finally finished. My mother cried as we walked through the empty rooms, our voices echoing. I marveled at the new carpet and the smell of fresh paint. We had a breakfast bar and a room for a table. There was a large wood burning stove in the living room. There were two [...]
There is a fine line between exposing one’s self and showing off an appendix scar. I think I could be guilty of both as I unbuttoned my jeans and showed everyone the four-inch red incision line on my first day back to school. There was a certain sense of pride that I had survived [...]
So, I could overcome the heat, dust storms and fatality around every corner because I was in love with two boys at the tender age of eight. They were like photograph negatives of each other. Dylan all blonde and light skinned, Daniel with his dark hair and dark eyes. They also had very different opinions [...]
We moved to a trailer in a desert with no television, radio or reason to live. Surely, tribes in the outermost reaches of a Brazilian jungle had better accommodations. My parents plied us with comic books, novels and a monopoly board. This, of course, did not take the place of a working television. I was [...]
“swirly” is the best new word ever.
But very accurate!
hi – I like your rules thank you for making time to put them together for others to enjoy – hope there is still room for more fun and beauty among them too when the fancy takes you …
I think we are at the same place…thanks for putting it into words.
Hope things aren’t too tough for you and yours at present and health of close family is better. Happy holidays to you and yours.
Been rather tough here but we’ll get through it as we usually do eh?
All the very best – Brian
Nice to hear from you once again – glad you liked one of my latest offerings – all the very best Brian
Hi thank you so much for following my blog
I like the idea of “swirly.” My mind sometimes feels like there’s a tornado or two zinging around in there and writing helps keep my ears from slapping each other.
I hope you don’t mind my poking about a bit. Don’t wish to wake you, but wanted to peek in and see a little about you.
Peek away
I know what you mean about the tornado in your brain. It’s great to have a place to put all that energy.
So you can hear the whooshing sounds too?
Having an outlet helps focus. Would it be rude of me to want to poke about a bit more?
The whooshing and the roar sometimes! Not to mention the crunching, crackling and tinkling. Poke around, but leave it the way you found it!
I’ll use my super stealthy ninja skills. You’ll never know I was here….well, maybe except for some crumbs (btw it’s not nice to leave cake where I can find it).
You obviously have no willpower..the cake was a test!
I have lots of willpower….just not always at the right time. Besides, I only ate the frosting.
It was cream cheese frosting too!
Which would explain why I know look more like a Chris Farley ninja than a Bruce Lee ninja.
Also would explain the buzzing in my ears……mmmmmm….sugar rush!
Hey…a ninja is a ninja. Sugar rushes are almost as good as sunny swirls!
Thanks for liking my most recent post (i.e. within the last 5 minutes). However, I have been tweaking it while you were reading it and there is now one additional link you may wish to pursue (i.e. fist of two bullet points).
Thank you for your interest in some of my photos. You seem like a very nice, sincere person without a cold dead heart in any respect. I hope you continue to enjoy our photographic medium for years to come. It is an amazing adventure of dicovery of the beauty that surrounds us all. Be at peacenow and thank you again for your time and kind comments. rek
Thank you also….I have very much enjoyed your photography. I’ll be stopping by often.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out some of my stuff. Keep enjoying the swirliness of life and sharing it with all of us!
Hi there, thanks for following our blog http://www.intotheorchard.com cheers Ian
thanks for popping by again to like my most recent post Riding into the firing line.
Hi there. Loving the rules and the imagery induced by the swirly mind! Great blog! Thanks for the follow at my blog! Best to you and yours, incidentallearner!
Thanks so much…I’m enjoying your blog
I’ll be following.
Good morning – I saw that you stopped-by my blog yesterday…thank you for visiting and for letting me know you were there.
Your Arizona Chronicles captured my attention…recently moved away from there, but had lived in Az for close to 25 years. I wonder what I’ll find when I read further….
Hope to see you around.
Scott
Thanks so much….glad I found your blog
I miss Arizona so much! Would love to move back.
You are very welcome. I’m glad you found me, too.
I am happy to be able to say that I am “from” Arizona…I so much prefer living near the cool mountains of Utah. While the desert itself can be beautiful, I found it to be too warm for my soul. My wife shares your desire to move back, though…. I am looking forward to reading more of your story.
A good day to you, from the other side of the world.
Thanks for “following” me…it sounds creepy but there it is. Thanks, too, for liking my photos.
I hope you won’t mind if I drop in every once in a while, and while I’m at it, I hope its all right to take a leisurely walk inside your “colddeadheart”….
Cheers,
Mary
lol..and thanks for checking in on me…we’re such a voyeuristic bunch
I write about whatever I want to as well. I do listen to readers sometimes though!
I listen to the readers too…I go through periods where I can write a poem a day…but now I’m into photography..lol. Who knows what my mind will do. Thanks for stopping by.
Very nice photographs you take! Keep up the good work, and thank you so much for following my blog
Thanks so much and thanks for stopping by!
I knew you didn’t have a cold dead heart when I saw your photograph. Am curious about the name, though.
It’s supposed to be ironic because I am sometimes too tender hearted. And I have a habit when someone says “promise?” or saying “Cross my cold dead heart.” Seemed like a good name for a blog ..lol
Thanks for stopping by!

Nice blog you have. I like your photos, but the gray text hurts to look at. Cool the BG and the gray text will pop!
I totally understand what you mean by ‘swirly mind’.
It’s a blessing and a curse to have a swirly mind!
I love your blog, it inspires me
I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award! http://tonetiki.wordpress.com/2012/04/18/versatile-blogger-award-nomination/

Hi! I have nominated you for an award! Check it out here: http://www.glutenvygirl.com/new-awards/
Awww thanks so much…you’re very sweet!
Thanks for reading and responding to The Bone-Pickers. I don’t consider myself a poet, but that one had to be birthed. Not the best time of my life.
Most of the other poetry is from the April National Poetry Month challenge.
Working on a novel (aren’t we all?) and have been sidetracked by NPM, and a group of short stories a bit on the weird side. Trying now to tie Harvey Meeks’ Crawl Space and
The Learning Curve together with one titled The Circadae, which I hope to complete this weekend.
I will peruse your site in the very near future. Good Writing to you.
hey! I created a page on Radius Of A Square. it’s called “How Life Works?”
Feel free to drop by anytime and post your views
thanks for the blog visit
